How it works

A simple rhythm for dictation.

ClickMic shows what is happening while you dictate: when it is ready for speech, when it is processing a phrase, and when the text is ready to work with.

Speak

Talk while dictation is active and your text appears in the ClickMic window.

Pause between thoughts

A short pause helps ClickMic finish the phrase and place a sentence break.

Use your text

Pause the microphone when you want to edit, copy, or insert the text.

Why ClickMic

Flexible voice input for the browser.

Dictation, local text history, reminders, characters, and export — right on the page where you are working.

Yes. No account, sign-up, or login is required. Install the extension and it works immediately.
ClickMic does not send your audio to Astrolabe Tools. Voice recognition is handled by Chrome's Web Speech API. When you speak, Chrome may send audio to Google's speech recognition service. ClickMic only receives the recognized text returned by the browser API.
ClickMic works across many Chrome websites with standard text fields, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, email clients, and online documents. Some sites may still block microphone input because of browser or site restrictions.
Your dictated text and core settings stay on your device in Chrome storage (including chrome.storage.local; Character Pack mascots also use local IndexedDB). That content is not uploaded to Astrolabe Tools. Separately, the extension contacts our servers over HTTPS with a random per-install ID to manage the free trial and optional ClickMic Pro, and may fetch a public Character Pack catalog and pack assets when you use those features. See the ClickMic Privacy Policy for the full list.
No. Your dictation history stays locally in your browser. ClickMic does not send your dictated text to Astrolabe Tools except if you explicitly include a snippet in a bug report. If you send a bug report from the extension, a transcript snippet is included only if you manually choose that option. Diagnostics may include technical settings and the current site hostname, not your full browsing history.
At the moment, ClickMic is built for Google Chrome on desktop. Support for other browsers may be added later, but Chrome is the supported browser today.
History is size-based, not time-based. You can choose a local history limit of 5 MB, 10 MB, 25 MB, or 50 MB. The default is 10 MB. New entries are added at the top, and when the selected limit is reached, ClickMic removes the oldest entries first until the history fits again.
Character Packs are optional mascot styles for the floating ClickMic button. Installed packs are cached locally on your device.
Yes. You can attach a local reminder to a saved voice note. ClickMic uses Chrome alarms and browser notifications, so delivery depends on Chrome and your operating system notification settings.
Yes. You can export saved dictation and history so you can keep a backup or use your text outside the browser.
Speak in short phrases and pause briefly between them. ClickMic uses pauses to separate text into readable chunks. You can edit the text before copying or inserting it.
ClickMic Pro is optional paid access with checkout handled by Lemon Squeezy. It does not change how your dictated text is stored: it stays local unless you explicitly include a snippet in a bug report.
